About Us Pegasus Associates Lighting describes its company, its location, its lighting products, and its clientele.
OUR COMPANY
Begun in 1993, Pegasus Associates Lighting is now celebrating its fifteenth year in business. It is a division of Edison Lighting Systems, Inc., which, in turn, has been in business since 1987. Pegasus Associates Lighting is a member of the Better Business Bureau (www.BBB.org), provides its e-commerce customers with a secure web site through Yahoo Merchant Services, and is an Industry Partner with The American Society of Interior Designers (www.ASID.org). The Pittsburgh Business Times has identified Pegasus Associates Lighting as one of the top 100 Fastest-Growing, Privately Held Companies in the Pittsburgh area for 2007.

Vision Statement

OUR FOUNDER
Thomas E. Farin, the founder of Pegasus Associates Lighting and Edison Lighting Systems, has been in the field of lighting for twenty-one years. He has extensive training and experience in lighting, physics, mathematics and education, acquired at the undergraduate level, in graduate school, and in the field. It is Dr. Farin's interest and expertise in education that drives the overall design of the Pegasus Associates Lighting site - with its heavy emphasis on lighting terminology, lighting techniques, and thorough information on each lighting product. It is hoped that each visitor to the site, regardless of his or her knowledge of lighting, will find the information provided to be extremely beneficial and that he/she will become a well-informed consumer and user of lighting products. Dr. Farin has been an active member of the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (www.IESNA.org) since 1993, a Certified Lighting Efficiency Professional with the Association of Energy Engineers (www.AEECenter.org), and a Surveyor Ally with the EPA Green Lights Program (www.EnergyStar.gov).

We are headquartered in the town of Beaver Falls in western Pennsylvania near Pittsburgh and have an office in Raleigh, North Carolina.
OUR LIGHTING PRODUCTS
Our lighting products include cabinet lighting, cable lighting systems, cove lighting, desk lamps, display lights, exit signs, filters, fluorescent fixtures, lamps (light bulbs), lenses, light boxes, louvers, night lights, over cabinet lighting, picture lights, reading lights, recessed downlights, shelf lights, showcase lighting, step lights, table lamps, track lighting, transformers, under cabinet lighting, UV filters, xenon light fixtures, and wall sconces.
What We Consider to be a Unique Lighting Product
We consider a lighting product to be unique or, at least, somewhat unique if it is difficult to find, is contemporary or avant-garde in styling, is unusual in some fashion, uses a state-of-the-art light source or optical design, is custom-made, or is energy-efficient. Therefore, for example, we prefer to offer our customers lighting products that use LED, fluorescent, halogen, or xenon light bulbs instead of traditional incandescent light bulbs and we prefer to offer our customers fluorescent lighting products that use quiet, energy-efficient electronic ballasts instead of magnetic ballasts.
 A) Dimmable Any product that is designated as "Dimmable" can be dimmed if the correct dimming device is used. Any product that does not have this designation is not dimmable. A lighting product that does not use a transformer should use a line voltage dimmer, a lighting product that uses an electronic transformer should use a dimmer designed for an electronic transformer, a lighting product that uses a magnetic transformer should use a dimmer designed for a magnetic transformer, and a lighting product that plugs into a receptacle (outlet) should use an Attache®, Credenza®, or Spacer System™ dimmer by Lutron. Please consult the Dimmers section of our web site to find the right dimmer for lighting product.
 B) Installation Difficulty We rank the ease of installing our lighting products from 1 "wrench" (very easy) to 5 "wrenches" (will take some time or patience or professional expertise). We tend to be a bit conservative with our estimates of difficulty so that you will not be disappointed with the time that it takes to install a given lighting product. That is, we would rather judge a product to be a little more difficult to install than you might find it to be than vice versa.

2 Wrenches - Pretty easy
3 Wrenches - Somewhat easy
4 Wrenches - Requires some effort but not a great deal of effort
5 Wrenches - Will take some time or patience or professional expertise
C) New Product Any product that is designated as a "New Product" means that it has been on our web site for 3 months or less.
D) Quick-Ship Items Any product that is designated as a "Quick-Ship Item" means that it will ship out of our warehouse within 1 business day 99% of the time.
E) UL/ETL Listed All of our lighting products are either UL Listed or ETL Listed.  
F) Warranties All of our lighting products are warranted.

THE STORY OF PEGASUS
In Greek mythology Pegasus was a beautiful, white, winged horse. He sprang from Medusa's body when her head was chopped off by the Greek hero, Perseus. Medusa was a Greek villain who had snakes as hair. Without a mother, Pegasus roamed free and wild.
While Pegasus was drinking from a well, Bellerophon managed to slip a golden bridle over Pegasus and capture the winged horse. The golden bridle had been a gift from Athena, the favorite daughter of Zeus and the Goddess of Wisdom. Bellerophon tamed Pegasus and used the horse during his adventures. One of these adventures was the slaying of Chimera. Chimera had the head of a lion, the body of a goat, and the tail of a snake. It killed and ate humans. Many brave men had tried slaying Chimera on foot without any luck. Bellerophon used Pegasus to fly to the monster and kill it.
Bellerophon made the foolish decision to try and fly Pegasus to Mount Olympus (heaven, according Greek mythology). Zeus, king of the Greek gods, quickly put a stop to Bellerophon by throwing him from Pegasus. Bellerophon survived the fall, but he was crippled. As for Pegasus, he made it into heaven where he spent his days carrying lightning bolts for Zeus. When the stars are out, you might be able to see the Pegasus constellation, which was named after him.

- A) There are several ways. (1) You may be able to find the answer to your question in our Lighting FAQ found throughout our web site, in the Lighting Glossary, or the Lighting Tips section. - Q) Can you answer a specific question regarding a small lighting layout/project?
- A) Yes, we would be happy to assist you with working out the details of a specific lighting layout or project involving one of our lighting products.
- Q) Can you help us with the lighting design for an entire room or an entire facility?
- A) Yes; however, for large projects we charge a lighting design consultation fee.
- INSTALLATION QUESTIONS
Q) Can you answer a specific question regarding the installation of one of your lighting products?
- A) Absolutely. We can supply you with the installation instructions for any of our lighting products and we would be happy to clarify those instructions whenever necessary. However, our electrical advice cannot and should not exceed the scope of that lighting product.
- Q) Can you help us solve a problem with the electrical layout/design of our space or room.
- A) We are very sorry but you will have to consult a registered electrician in your area to adequately solve any electrical problems that extend beyond our lighting products.
- Q) Can you help us with the electrical design of a new room or a new facility?
- A) Yes; however, for large projects we charge an electrical design consultation fee.
- LITERATURE or CATALOG
Q) Do you have literature or a catalog that you can send me?
- A) We are very sorry but we do not have any hardcopy literature to send out. You are welcome to print out the pages of our web site to use as your reference catalog.
- AVAILABILITY of PRODUCTS
Q) Are your lighting products in stock?
- A) Yes, most of them are. On rare occasions we do run out of an item and when we do we indicate that on the appropriate product page under "Availability", which is highlighted in red.

- A) Unfortunately, we cannot send out a free samples. You are encouraged to purchase a sample, however.

Q) Should I place my order using the Shopping Cart System on your web site or over the phone with you?
- A) Generally speaking, your order will be processed faster if you use the Shopping Cart System on our web site. However, if you have a question, we encourage you to call us at our toll-free number, 800.392.4818, and place your order over the phone with one of our Customer Service Reps.

Q) Do you ship to other countries?
- A) Yes, we do. We have shipped our lighting products to Australia, Austria, Canada, Chile, Denmark, Japan, Norway, Singapore, Sweden, Switzerland, Korea, Malta, New Zealand, Qatar, the United Kingdom, and a variety of islands in the Caribbean.
- Q) What state will my order ship from?
- A) Generally speaking, your order will ship from our warehouse in western Pennsylvania. However, on occasion all or part of your order may ship from one of our warehouses in California, New York, or New Jersey.
- Q) Can I pick up my order at one of your warehouses?
- A) We are very sorry but this is not possible.
- Q) Do you offer free shipping?
- A) We are very sorry but we do not; however, you will find our shipping charges to be very reasonable.
- Q) If I placed my order now, when would it be shipped?
- A) On average, about 70% of all orders are shipped the same business day the order is placed (except for Saturday, Sunday, and Holidays). Virtually all of our orders (99%) are shipped out within 2 business days so you will receive them within 3-7 business days. If it is not sent out within 2 business days, we will contact you.
